21st February is known as International Mother Language Day. More than 188 countries in the world celebrate this day with lots of respect. It has a huge story behind this day. Lots of people sacrificed their lives to make Bengali their mother language. In 1952, when Bangladesh was colonized by Pakistan the rulers declared that Urdu will be the state language. Then students and the people of Bangladesh didn’t accept that and protested against the decision. On 21st February 1952, in rally police killed lots of people. With their sacrifice of life, they got Bengali as their mother language.
